Project: Eco-Resort at Palolem, Goa.
Design team: Ketaki and Manasi, Meghana
Client: Ute Ferrao, Bhakti Kutir resort
Site area: 30 acres
The site was a low lying marshy area surrounded by water channels from the river joining the coast. The original mangrove vegetation was slowly destroyed by decades of agriculture, and the aim was to restore parts of the site to allow mangrove vegetation to take over again.
half of the site falls within the 500m line of the Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ), so no permanent construction was allowed. Some temporary structures on stilts were provided for housing for researchers and ARTI centre (Appropriate Rural Technology Institute)
The Masterplan development and Architectural guidelines were made in collaboration with OIKOS ecological services, Pune
